About MoneyCalculatorHQ

MoneyCalculatorHQ is a small, independent library of free finance calculators, launched in 2026 with a simple conviction: the arithmetic behind everyday money decisions is not hard — it is just usually explained badly, hidden behind jargon, or locked inside tools that show a result without showing the reasoning. We build calculators that show their work.

What we publish

Every calculator on this site follows the same editorial pattern. The tool itself opens with sensible default values and a result already computed, so you can see what it does before you touch it. Beneath the tool sits a complete written explanation: what the concept means in plain language, the exact formula used with every variable defined, a fully worked example whose numbers match the tool's default result exactly, guidance on variants and edge cases, and a short FAQ answering the questions readers genuinely ask. If a page's example and its tool ever disagreed, that would be a bug — and we test for it before every page ships.

Who writes and reviews

Explanations are written by Jenny Hartley, our finance writer, whose work focuses on translating personal-finance mathematics — interest, amortization, tax, and pay — into language a careful reader can verify. Every page's calculations and examples are independently reviewed by Marcus Reed, who re-derives each formula and re-checks each worked example against the live tool before publication. Pages carry a byline, a reviewer credit, and an updated date; when a formula or a rule changes, the page changes and the date moves.

How we make money

MoneyCalculatorHQ is free to use and is supported by advertising. We do not sell financial products, we do not accept payment to recommend lenders or accounts, and no advertiser influences a formula, an example, or a conclusion. If that model ever changes, this page will say so.

What this site is not

Our calculators produce educational estimates from the numbers you enter. They are not financial, tax, legal, or investment advice, and they cannot see your full situation. Rates change, tax rules have exceptions, and loan offers carry terms no general tool can capture. Use our results to understand your options and to check other people's arithmetic — then, for consequential decisions, consult a qualified professional. The full statement is in our Terms of Use.

Corrections

Accuracy is the whole product. If you find a number on this site you cannot reproduce, or an explanation you believe is wrong, write to us through the contact page with the page address and the figures you used. Verified errors are corrected promptly and the page's updated date is changed to say so.
